In an effort to help document the history of a well known visual landmark, I approached the local hospital after their purchase of the Harrington Farm and was granted permission to photograph the property as an independent artist. In the fall and winter of 2022, the barn and outbuildings were taken down and the land will be used for the addition of a new medical office building.

Most of Farmington’s living residents know this farm and would recognize the large dairy barn because it stood across the street from the town’s high school, civic center, water park, and hospital. It was reassuring to many people in the community that there is currently a plan for reassembly of the large dairy barn on a local private property, and so it will not be lost.

Simultaneously researching the history of the property while photographing it coming down in stages, led to many discoveries of significant historical value.
